1836 was new to MPTE Gillmoss depot in October 1979. It was one of a batch of 22, (1821-1842), With East Lancashire bodywork to a new MPTE standard design.
They featured the Liverpool Skyline along the ceiling cove panels, wet-look seating and brown formica type plastic between the window bays, as well as four-track route number displays on the front only. (1840 alone had a rear number).
Passing to Merseybus in 1986 it later went to their Heysham Travel operation near Morecambe.
Later it went to a local enthusiast and was painted in a pseudo-MPTE livery it was purchased by a Trust member in August 2004.
It arrived looking good after many years of sitting in the open air at various locations.
It was quickly repanelled and repainted back into MPTE Verona, cream and brown livery in time for the Woodvale Rally in 2006.
It is a regular performer at many of the MTT events.
