Ever wondered about how you can help the Trust? Ever wondered about how the Trust can afford to keep its fleet in store and on the road? Storage alone is £40 per bus per month, and running costs include diesel, oils, spare parts, tax (for the newer vehicles in the collection) and MOT fees.
Well the answer is from donations taken at rallies and Running Days and the buses on the road have to work hard to earn their keep and help to keep their fellow stable mates in store at Burscough. However, more of these funds raised could go into restoration and allow the Trust to get more buses restored to the usual high standard and on the road for your enjoyment. If sponsorship is generously given (both by members and non-members) then this would be able to happen. You may be thinking "I can't afford to donate much" but every little will help. And, if you pay tax above a certain amount then the Trust may be able to reclaim this tax as Gift Aid and further increase your donation, so long as you declare this on the form.
Restoration costs include new aluminium sheets, paint, often new window rubber, new tyres, and often need mechanical parts overhauling to get them up to snuff again after many years of non-use. And of course there are the usual costs mentioned above.
